How To Improve Your Relationship With Cooking

There are things that we want to do and things that we have to do. It’s nice when they overlap. It’s much easier to stomach a long drive to work if you enjoy being behind the wheel. Equally, it’s much more enjoyable to feed yourself if you like — or at least don’t dislike — being in the kitchen, cooking up a storm. Plus, not only is it more enjoyable, but it’s much better for your bank balance. It’s pretty expensive to get takeout all the time!

If you’re not a natural kitchen dweller, then fear not: there are plenty of things you can do that will improve your relationship with cooking. Let’s take a look at some effective tips.

Upgrade Your Kitchen

Forget your kitchen — it’s much nicer to spend time anywhere when it’s a space that’s aesthetically pleasing, clean, and inviting. If your kitchen could do with a little bit of love, then, well, give it a little bit of love. By taking the time to make some much-needed improvements to your kitchen, you’ll not only want to spend more time in your cooking space, but it’ll also just make the cooking task more straightforward. It’s much nicer to cook in a kitchen that’s sleek, modern, and fit for purpose.

Invest In New Cooking Tools

People often think it’s only the recipe and ingredients that impact the quality of the meal. But that’s not the case. The tools you use to make the meal also play a role, too. In addition, by adding a wider range of cooking tools, you’ll be able to open up the number of recipes it’s possible for you to make. As well as having quality versions of all the classics (knives, blenders), take a look at more recent cooking tools. The air fryer, for instance, has taken the world by storm (and is, personally, my favorite kitchen gadget).

Make Recipes You Can Freeze

You’ll very much want to make recipes that you enjoy eating, but also think about recipes that you can eat again and again. It takes time and effort to prepare a meal, and you’ll want to get as much bang for your buck. Rather than making one-time meals, look at making dishes that are perfect for enjoying as leftovers or for freezing. This chicken spaghetti with rotel recipe, for instance, is delicious, easy to make, and perfect for putting in the freezer. You won’t mind spending time in the kitchen when you know that your creation will be feeding you for days.

Share The Responsibilities

You probably can’t avoid cooking, but you might be able to avoid doing all of the cooking-related tasks. For instance, maybe someone else in your family can be responsible for chopping and dicing the veg, while someone else can be in charge of providing dessert. Smaller members of the family can help to clean up. And talking of cleaning — try to clean while you’re cooking. It’s much easier to clean while rice is boiling rather than waiting until the meal is over before you get out the sponge.
