How to Make Halloween Snack Cups

Ready to make these ghoulish goodies? Here’s how to do it (although it’s easy enough to figure out just from the pictures).

Step 1 – Assemble your snack cups.

You’ll need vanilla pudding cups, lime jello, and orange jello. Also, grab a marker to draw the faces on.

Step 2 – Draw the faces.

For the ghost, you’ll draw oval-shaped eyes and a mouth. Make it look spooky.

For Frankenstein, draw some hair, eyes, and a stitched mouth. Don’t forget a couple of scars for embellishment.

For your pumpkin, draw a jack-o-lantern style face of your choosing.

Get the kids in on the fun and let them help draw on some spooky faces of their own!

Step 3 – Pass them out.

Hand your Halloween snack cups out to classmates or to the Trick-or-Treaters in your neighborhood. These are a fun alternative to the usual candy, and even kids who can’t have sugar can enjoy some sugar-free versions.

Tips for This Halloween Classroom Snack Idea:

  • Make sure you’re using shelf-stable gelatin. The Hunt’s snack cups are found in the regular grocery aisles on the shelves, while Jell-O brand snack cups are in the refrigerator section. If you’re using refrigerated jello, make sure you keep it chilled until you pass them out to the kids, and they need to be eaten right away.
  • Hand out plastic spoons with them so the recipient can enjoy them as soon as they get them.
  • If kids will be eating them right away, bring add-ins they can mix in with their pudding, like cookie crumbs (for dirt), gummy worms, candy eyes, or liquid candy to look like slime.

Make Other Halloween Characters

Want to try different characters? Here are a few more you can make with different flavors or colors of jello or pudding:

  • Spiders: Turn chocolate pudding cups into spiders by adding googly eyes and pipe cleaner legs.
  • Vampires: Turn any red gelatin cups into vampires by adding googly eyes and fangs that you can paint on using white acrylic or even white out.
  • Zombies: Instead of Frankenstein, draw zombie faces on the green gelatin.
  • Mummies: Wrap cups in gauze with googly eyes peeking out to make mummy cups.
